Carla Joachim and Jordan Morineau – founders of MOCA Tableware ceramic studio, Eindhoven

Studio
Joachim-Morineau

Studio JOACHIM-MORINEAU is a design studio founded by two friends: Carla Joachim (FR) and Jordan Morineau (FR). Based in Eindhoven, Netherlands, since 2018. We opened a second workspace in Nantes, France, in 2025.

Studio Joachim-Morineau is a design duo that merges craft and industry into poetic, functional design. Our work transforms fluidity into form, softening industrial processes into sculptural objects with a human touch.

With Moca Tableware, we bring poetry to daily rituals through ceramic pieces. We use a self-developed dripping technique in ceramics to create tactile, poetic forms that explore the space between structure and softness.

Our story

We first met as design students in Paris at ENSAAMA, then moved to the Netherlands to study at Design Academy Eindhoven, where we both graduated from the Man and Activity department in 2018.

Our graduation project, Moca, was a ceramic research based on a dripping machine we designed and built ourselves: a computer-controlled system (coded on Arduino) that drips liquid porcelain into plaster moulds to create patterns that are never the same. That project was featured in Dezeen in 2018 and exhibited at Dutch Design Week, and it became the foundation of our studio.

Over the years, Studio Joachim-Morineau grew into household objects, exhibitions and ongoing ceramic research. In 2024, we gave our ceramics their own brand: Moca Tableware, to give them their own identity.

Today, we produce high-quality porcelain entirely by hand, from design to moulds to firing. As French ceramicists based between Eindhoven (Carla) and Nantes (Jordan), we control every step of production in-house in our two workshops.

Frequently asked questions:

Where is MOCA Tableware made?
Every piece is handmade in our own workshops in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Nantes (France) – from design and mould-making to dripping, glazing and firing. Nothing is outsourced.

Who makes MOCA ceramics?
MOCA Tableware is made by Carla Joachim and Jordan Morineau, two French designers who founded Studio Joachim-Morineau after graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2018.

Are MOCA ceramics really handmade?
Yes. Each piece is made by hand using traditional ceramic techniques and by our self-built dripping machine for the pattern. Because the patterns are created by controlled dripping, no two pieces are ever identical.

What makes MOCA’s dripping technique unique?
Our dripping machine, designed and coded by us, drips liquid porcelain into plaster moulds to create patterns embedded in the ceramic itself – not painted on top. It blends industrial precision with natural imperfection a technique featured in Dezeen.
