A handmade ceramic dinner plate with a unique blue glaze pattern, crafted by machine and hand-made techniques in our workshops in Eindhoven & Nantes. Each plate is unique.
Each pattern is different due to the codes we use and the coloured glaze we mix. The blue intensity and rhythm vary between series. Choose between one, two, or three circular lines, with spread or connected glaze drops.
You can also find our ceramic dessert plate Ø 16cm and our ceramic plate Ø 19cm on our webshop.
This handmade ceramic dinner plate features a unique blue glaze pattern, crafted in our workshops in Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Nantes (France). Every plate is made individually using our MOCA dripping machine, so no two plates are ever identical. The blue intensity and rhythm vary between series. Whether you are building a complete dinner service or looking for a unique gift, this handmade ceramic dinner plate is a perfect and lasting choice.
At 24cm diameter, this plate is ideal for dinners, lunches, and everyday meals. Its generous size makes it the centrepiece of any table setting.
The glaze pattern on each plate is applied as circular lines around the rim. We offer several variations:
Each plate is made individually, so the intensity of the blue and the thickness of the lines vary from one series to another. You can also find our ceramic plate Ø 19cm and our ceramic dessert plate Ø 16cm on our webshop.
First, we pour liquid porcelain into the plate mould. The plaster absorbs the water from the porcelain, creating a thickened layer against the mould. After 4 to 6 minutes, we remove the excess liquid porcelain and let the plate dry before stamping ‘Moca’ on the inner rim. The next day, we clean the edges and surface of the fully dried plate. We then bisque-fire at a low temperature (around 1020 °C). Next comes the pattern: we drip blue glaze onto the plate using our MOCA dripping machine, then add a second transparent food-safe glaze. Finally, we fire a second time at a higher temperature (around 1240 °C).
The MOCA project was born from our graduation research at the Design Academy Eindhoven. It is part of the MOCA Tableware project by Studio Joachim-Morineau, presented at the Dutch Design Week 2024 in Eindhoven. Today, we continue this work in both our Eindhoven and Nantes workshops.
